REMEDIATION PROJECT MANAGER

SUMMARY: Sault Tribe Incorporated (STI) is hiring a Remediation Project Manager to manage key client projects for a wide range of environmental projects, which may include hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste (HTRW), Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP), five-year review and periodic review projects, etc. Projects may be in locations nationwide and require extended travel. Oversees all aspects of projects to include the onsite coordination and completion of projects on time, within budget and within scope.  Supports business development for future projects through efforts including project estimation, technical writing, and sales and marketing efforts.
 
The candidate will support Ojibwe Hazardous Abatement (OHA) and other subsidiaries to STI. OHA is an STI Federal Tribal-owned business forging a future in nationwide environmental, engineering, and construction management and consulting, growing from a legacy of exceptional regional service. STI is wholly owned by the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians as a Federally chartered entity, created to benefit tribal members through job creation and assistance programs through private enterprise.
 
Key Results: Projects are completed safely, on-time, and on-budget, both from a client perspective as well as delivering at or above internal target for rate of return.
Reporting is timely and accurate, and deliverables meet quality standards.
Projects receive positive ratings (CPARS) from government clients or prime contractor.
Project manager successfully contributes to winning additional projects.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared accordingly.
  • Implement and manage OHA Health and Safety, Operations, and Corporate Quality Management programs on assigned projects.
  • Oversees and leads restoration planning, assessments, inspections, surveys, investigations, studies, engineering evaluations, cost analyses, and remedial/removal actions alongside other technical staff.
  • Author, review, and edit planning documents and technical deliverables.
  • Support technical approach and pricing processes during contract and task order proposal development.
  • Provide technical support and/or supervision of environmental data gathered during field activities; including the ability to conduct data validation/data screening to in support of data quality objectives.
  • Responsible for the effective management of funds and personnel and is accountable for the quality and timely delivery of contractual items.
  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of project to report to upper management and client regarding status of project.
  • Has the authority to commit the company to operational requirements with the client and is directly responsible for maintaining strong client relationship.
  • Monitor and increase productivity to reduce the overall cost of sales.
  • Coach, train and develop a work force qualified in various operational and site-specific functions.
  • Any indicated site-specific responsibilities.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES
All assigned resources and personnel.
 
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • College diploma (STEM preferred) plus 7 years’ relevant experience (Project, program, technical preferred).
  • Experience demonstrating a progressive increase in supervisory accountability and authority for projects, programs, people, budgets.
  • Experience as a Project Manager or Business Development Manager for executing agencies delivering HTRW investigation, and remediation services
  • Proven management expertise in budget and funds control and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project programs.
  • Scheduling, logistics and multitask planning.
  • Familiar with the materials, equipment, supplies, operations, and terminology used.
  • Must be capable of accessing Government properties based upon a background check.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Industry-specific training certificates (ex. OSHA 10/30-Hour, Asbestos, COSS, ASP/CSP, CHMM, HAZWOPER, Confined Space Rescue, First Aid/CPR, etc.)
  • Clean driving record or less than 6 points
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to pass basic medical exam. No medical or physical impairment that would prohibit the use of respiratory equipment or prevent the employee from performing the duties and responsibilities previously noted.
  • Able to stand, kneel, and bend with 6” of the ground for long periods of time, readily able to climb ladders.
  • No medical or psychological conditions/impairments that may present a safety risk to the employee or co-workers.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pulling equipment of various size, shape, and weight. Able to lift equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperature conditions, in confined spaces, and at heights.
  • Good vision and hearing.
  • Drug free.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work will be performed in various industrial settings, inside and out, such as: chemical plants, steel mills, automotive plants, power plants, tank farms, pumping stations, or any other such similar environments.
 
TRAVEL
Must be able to travel for extended periods of time.
 
COMPENSATION
$100-$130 salary is available for the right candidate.
 
Work Location: Jobsites Nationwide; Remote; Sault Saint Marie, Michigan; or Denver, Colorado
 
Native American Preferred – Sault Tribe Member/Family preferred.
