Biological Scientist Cryogenics Technician

Sault Tribe, Inc. Position:  Biological Scientist  with Cryogenics Experience:
(STI) Federal company, is hiring a Biological Scientist in the Atlanta, Georgia area, with experience in cryogenics or liquid nitrogen handling  In this role you may be asked to perform tasks for daily laboratory operations to include specimen management, logistics, maintaining laboratory supplies and reagents ordering, inventory control, quality control, perform equipment maintenance, calibrations, and validations, and assist or perform laboratory studies and other tasks as needed.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs routine laboratory and general clerical tasks in support of daily laboratory operations
  • Provide overarching lab support, maintenance, logistics, inventory, and compliance support for the laboratories in accordance with current laboratory procedures
  • Provide logistic, organizational, and technical support for tracking, storage and chain of custody of specimens, to include entry into the Laboratory Information System
  • Document and maintain records of all laboratory activities including  laboratory inventories, reports, maintenance logs, sample logs, instrument logs as required by regulatory requirements and client policies
  • Prepares and coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Train and provide guidance to junior staff or new hires
  • Collaborates with team members and customers both internal and external
  • Comply with all requirements for laboratory safety and security
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including proper use of Biological Safety Cabinets, sample aliquoting, or sub-culturing
  • Experience in handling cryogenic samples and working with sample inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of proper cryogenic sample handling and basic cryogenic storage system maintenance, repair, and safety
 
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s in biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related biological science. With at least 2-8 years’ experience in a regulatory laboratory environment
  • May require on call coverage for emergency notifications
 Working Conditions:
 
  • Work will be performed in a climate-controlled laboratory environment on a secure government facility.
  • Work environment involves possible exposure to hazardous materials, such as chemical, blood and blood borne pathogens
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times and be able to bend, lift and pull with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This position requires extended periods of being on your feet and prolonged work sitting at a desk operating a computer with or without reasonable accommodation
  • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.
